Where’s the best place to go Deep Sea Fishing in California?

General Fishing Questions

My girlfriend and I are doing a California roadtrip next summer. We’re starting in San Francisco and heading down the coast, all the way to San Diego. I’m hoping to get in a deep sea fishing trip while I’m there. Any hints on the best place to go deep sea fishing? I’d like to look at bookings now, so I can get an idea of costs, and start working it into our budget.

Long Beach is definitely a good spot to check out for deep sea fishing. You can get quite a few different types of fish there, ranging from barracuda to yellowtail, white sea bass, and tuna. There are no doubt other places also, but Long Beach is well worth a look.

San Diago is well known for its day fishing trips. That’s where I would go.

I vote for the Newport Beach/Balboa Peninsula area, been fishing there myself. It was amazing.

I took a ‘twilight’ charter from Marina del Rey last year, and I would highly recommend it.
