Steelhead Charters is a provider of salmon, trout and steelhead charter fishing on Lake Michigan or at points along the Muskegon River in Muskegon, Michigan. Muskegon is well known for its salmon fishing, and is ideal for individuals, small and large groups, or corporate charter use. The company provides fishing services year-round, and their boat captain is experienced with the area’s target fish throughout their entire migratory cycle. The areas serviced by Steelhead Charters include their home port on Lake Michigan from Muskegon, at points along the Muskegon River, on White Lake, Muskegon Lake, Silver Lake, the St. Joseph River, the Manistee River, and the White River.

Steelhead Charters has separate boats available for Lake Michigan and any river fishing. In January and February, river fishing is done for steelhead while they wait for their spring spawning run. March and April is the actual steelhead spawning run which peaks along the Muskegon River in mid-April through May. May and June River fishing continues during these months, but is also available on Lake Michigan for Chinook and Coho salmon, Brown and Lake Trout, and continued steelhead fishing. July, August, and September are ideal months for enjoying the salmon run on the Muskegon River and in Lake Michigan. Late September and October salmon spawning continues and peaks in approximately mid-October. November and December returns the fishing to the fall steelhead as they begin their wait for the spawning season.

Lake Michigan fishing is done from the “Barbara Rose”, a 30-foot Bayliner with an enclosed cabin that offers the space, comforts, and other amenities desired while fishing. This boat is capable of accommodating six persons, with a crew of three to provide support. The newest addition to the Lake Michigan fleet is the 29-foot “Fish Stix's”. Full fishing equipment is provided, fishing licenses are available to individuals 17 or older, and the professional staff cleans and bags the day's catch at the end of the trip.

Muskegon River fishing is provided on the “Steelie II”, a spacious roughneck jet boat that accommodates four fishermen in addition to the captain. A removable enclosure is available and the boat heated for comfort during cooler weather trips. All equipment is provided, or fishermen may bring their own fly rod if preferred. Tips and guidance of fishing techniques are provided at no extra cost. In addition, River charters include a grilled lunch onshore where attendees may enjoy the incredible Muskegon area scenery.
